When Contemplating a Career Change

After much contemplation, you finally decided that a career change today is viable today. The only problem though is your financial situation doesn’t support the change you need. A lot of us are in this situation today. I’ve heard my friends constantly whine about wanting a career change but can’t afford the transition. It does sound hard to find a new job especially if money is the problem. But there are strategies that can be done to make it financially possible to move into a new job.

To get you started on your career change, you need to first do an employment background check on the job you are targeting. Find out the salary level in the jobs you target. You can do it online or do interviews with people on the same field you are targeting. You can do instant people search to narrow down your choices.

Of course, you need to begin saving today. A career change may need addition training and a period in which you will have to support yourself until such time that your earning gets stable. It’s best to create and emergency fund that will last for 6 months or more.

You can also start a part-time job while you’re still earning. But just make sure to manage your time carefully as juggling between two jobs can be stressful.

You need to prepare yourself as well in the job hunting. Make a presentable resume. Arrange your credential carefully.
